Healthplus Sports Therapists will ensure that you are guided through the appropriate levels of rehabilitation and return to sport/recreation.

Sports Therapy FAQs

What should I expect on my first session of sports therapy?

In the first session, we will ask and record a full history of your current injury and previous injuries pertaining to the current injury. Then, we will do a thorough assessment of pain levels, range of motion, and strength. Depending on the results of the assessment (acute injury with large amounts of swelling vs chronic injury), we may be able to perform treatments in the first session. Please note: You will not be cured of your ailments in one session.

What is the difference between sports therapy and physiotherapy?

Sports Therapists are musculoskeletal experts who focus on the prevention, care, and rehabilitation of sports injuries. Sports Therapists employ many of the same treatment techniques as physiotherapists. However, sports therapists endeavour to involve the clients as much as possible in the rehabilitation process by including active exercises in each session.

Which techniques do sports therapists use?

Sports therapists use therapeutic ultrasound, inferential treatment, and manual therapy, and massage to break down scar tissue, improve blood flow, and facilitate the body’s healing process.
